Thankfully times have changed and there is no longer a stigma attached to speaking with a mental health professional. It is a sign of strength, not weakness, to make the decision to speak through ones difficulties with a qualified therapist.
Psychological and emotional distress is unfortunately very common. Thankfully however this distress is usually temporary. Many clients require just a handful of sessions. Others with more significant difficulties may require a lengthier intervention. There are no rules in the practice with respect to the frequency or duration of the counselling process. We will work together to determine the best way forward.
In this practice we utilise the gold standard Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). CBT has consistently been found to be the most effective treatment for symptoms of psychological distress.
CLIENTS WITH CHRONIC PAIN & INJURIES
It is not uncommon following a traumatic event in your life, be it an injury, motor vehicle accident, workplace accident, victim of a crime or a personal traumatic event, that one may suffer emotional or behavioural problems.
The trauma of the experience coupled with a painful injury can negatively influence many aspects of an individuals functioning including ones occupational, social and personal life.
Research indicates that an individuals pain experience is reduced when their symptoms of psychological distress have settled.
